Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Is there a plan to replace faculty computers?

A:With the last iteration of the Faculty Computer Initiative in 2006 there was a desire to replace the computers after 3 years. Then in 2009, funding was only allocated to replace a fourth of the faculty computers with the desire to continue each year thereafter. The College of Fine Arts has approximately 80 eligible faculty for this initiative. That means that about 20 faculty computers will be replaced each year. The faculty receiving new computers each year will be identified by their unit chair/director.

Q: My laptop battery or power adapter no longer work, how do I get a new one?

A:Unfortunately we do not have access to funding to constantly replace these items. In order to get new equipment you will need the approval of your chair/director. We have attempted to make this easy by using an online form that will forward your request to your chair/director so they can notify us when approved.

Q: I'm having trouble with the internet connection in my office, what can I do?

A:If you cannot connect wirelessly then call OIT's help line at 7-4357 and choose option 2 for Network Services. Notify them of the problem. If you cannot connect through the wired jack in your office then call the CFA Helpdesk. We will come and make sure the jack is active and connected to your computer. If the jack is not active, then your department office will need to activate it.
